Feed-in Tariffs

The Feed-in Tariff (FITs), also known as the "Clean Energy Cash-back Scheme" is a Government introduced incentive, for small scale renewable generators. It helps with reduction of their carbon footprint whilst also being rewarded by the cash-back scheme.

FITs have been introduced by the Government in order to increase the level of renewable energy produced in the UK towards our target of 15% of total energy from renewables by 2020.

So now, installing a solar PV system is a fantastic investment opportunity as well as a hedge against rising electricity prices and a way to cut CO ₂emissions.

The main points of the scheme are:

1. The feed-in tariff for homeowners is 41.3p per unit generated from your PV system; For allfeed-in tariff bands click here;
2. The money received from the generation tariff is tax free for homeowners;
3. The payments for the electricity fromPV installations are guaranteed by law for 25 years;
4. The payments will be increased every year with the inflation;
5. Produced Green Energy from your PV system can be used for free;
6. An additional 3p per unit generated and exported to the National Grid will be paid to the generator;
7. The tariffs are for households, landlords, businesses, schools, hospitals, farmers, care homes and everyone else that generates green energy;
